Your Right to Cancel
If you book work with us in your home, over the phone or through this website, the law gives you a period in which you can change your mind. This page explains it.
Last updated 27 August 2026
1.When you have this right
You have a legal right to cancel if the agreement was made:
- In your home or anywhere that is not our business premises. For example, we came out, looked at the job and agreed a price at your kitchen table.
- At a distance, without meeting. For example, you booked over the phone, by WhatsApp, or through the form on this website.
In practice that covers nearly every job we do.
2.How long you have
Fourteen days, starting the day after the day the agreement was made.
For example: if we agreed the work on Monday 5 May, the fourteen days start on Tuesday 6 May and end at the close of Monday 19 May.
You do not have to give a reason, and there is no charge for cancelling.
3.How to cancel
Tell us, in any way that makes it clear. A phone call, a text, a WhatsApp message or an email are all fine.
Phone: 07307 331103
Email: [email protected]
By post: ask us for the postal address and we will give it to you straight away.
You can use the form in the next section if you prefer, but you do not have to.
4.Cancellation form
You may copy this and send it to us. It is the wording set out in the regulations.
To: Jimmy Taps, [email protected]
I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following service:
.................................................................
Ordered on: ............................................
Name of consumer: ................................
Address of consumer: .............................
.................................................................
Signature of consumer: ..........................
(only if this form is sent on paper)
Date: ............................
5.If you need the work started straight away
Most of our work is urgent. A burst pipe will not wait fourteen days, and neither should you have to.
You can ask us to start immediately, and we will. But the law asks for two things first, and they protect both of us:
- You make an express request for the work to begin inside the cancellation period. If we agreed the job in your home, that request has to be in writing on something you can keep, which means signing our slip, or sending it by text or email. A spoken yes is not enough for work agreed at your door.
- We tell you that if you then cancel, you will still have to pay for the work already done, in proportion to how much of it we completed.
If you make that request and later cancel, you pay a fair amount for the work carried out up to the point you told us. You do not pay for the rest.
If we start work early without getting that request from you, and you cancel within the fourteen days, you would not have to pay for what was done. We would rather get the paperwork right than have that conversation.
6.Refunds
If you have paid anything and then cancel, we will refund it within fourteen days of being told, using the same method you paid with, less any proportionate amount owed for work already carried out under section 5.
7.This does not affect your other rights
Separately from cancelling, if the work is not carried out with reasonable care and skill, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to have it put right, or to a price reduction. Those rights last far longer than fourteen days and nothing on this page reduces them. See our Terms of Service.
